Alexander Funicello graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1987, and received his medical degree from the Baylor University College of Medicine in 1991. He returned to his native Fresno, California to do his residency at the Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, and joined the staff full time in 1996. As a pulmonologist he has treated hundreds of patients with severe smoking-related lung disorders, and has become a vocal opponent of smoking and tobacco.
